Here are 2 different scavenger hunts I have done as fun classes at the end of the year. Scavenger hunts require almost no preparation, can take as much time as you want, and are super fun. The kids always love them and the classes have always gone really well, if a bit hyperactively crazy.
In the attachment, page 1 is a scavenger hunt I did with my SHS 3rd year students last December. In that one, I put the students into groups and then called out an item. The groups had to get the item and one group member came and gave it to me. The group that brought it to me first got a point. I then gave the item back to the student and called out the next item. The only English skill this required was listening but it was good fun.
Page 2 is a scavenger hunt I did with my 三年生's last year. In that one, they were each given the paper with the list of things to find. They had to collect everything and answer the questions by talking to other students/teachers and figuring out the answers. So, this practiced reading and speaking. (the thing about nicest smile and powerful sideburns was an inside joke in that class about a kid named Taniguchi who didn't even take OCII but somehow his friends who were in the class managed to incorporate Taniguchi's nice smile and powerful sideburns into every essay and presenation they ever had to do)
I've done scavenger hunts with 一年生 kids too but I can't find the files at the moment. Anyway, I used to have an OL who spoke English so I once made kids go to her and ask her to hanko their paper (which I of course approved with her beforehand).
The prize I usually give my kids is candy, but your school may not allow you to do that so any prize will do (hankos, stickers, puri-kura of you and your friends...)
These can easily be modified to apply to any group of students. Just make sure that if they are required to leave the classroom for something, they understand that only one person from the group can go and that they must be quiet and respectful of other classes which are in session. If you think your kids can't handle that, then just make sure that everything can be found inside the classroom.
