A simple but effective way to get the students to memorize vocab words.
!Materials you need!
Chalkboard, and a soccer ball printed on a piece of paper with magnets on the back.
!!In class!!
Make a soccer field on the chalkboard. Draw a vertical line in the center, place the soccer ball in the center. Draw 3 vertical lines on each half of the soccer field. (Draw 2 lines to make the game go faster--more goals)
Break students into 2 teams.
(For elementary: I tell the students to remember the rule of soccer, don't use your hands. This keeps most of them from raising their hand when they know the answer. They should just shout the answer.)
!!!Play Soccer!!!
The first player from each team have to quickly shout out the vocab that the teacher shows them. The player that answers more quickly moves the soccer ball one line towards his goal.
The ball moves left and right until eventually the ball reaches the goal. That team gets one point and the ball goes back out to the center line.
Works amazingly well for all my classes in Elementary 1st~5th
I thing it may work in Junior high, if someone knows better, leave a comment here.
