(updated 7/18)
Sorry to bump again, but I'm getting desperate here. I haven't updated the prices, but just consider anything and everything available for a significant discount and/or free (except for the keyboard, obviously.)
Anyone in the area is also welcome to stop by my place and raid it of various other items or pieces of furniture. There's some decent stuff here that could use a good home, including:
- a computer desk
- a collapsible stand for drying clothes
- more plates, glasses, and cooking utensils than I really need to pass on to my successor
- lots of other random stuff that I'm probably forgetting (if you're looking for something in particular, just ask)
Please, Shiga JETs, you're my only hope!
John

Emma--
It's about a year old, but I've been too busy to use it much, so it's in almost perfect condition. Again, the price is negotiable, so if 1.5 man sounds too expensive, just make me an offer.
Dan--
Well, I wasn't planning on selling that, but if you insist... how does 1億円 sound? ;)
Ooo! I want the CD stand! It's so cute. (.^_^)
As for the heater, how badly does it affect your electricity bill in the winter (compared to the AirCon/Heat thingie on the wall)?
Hey John,
The PC and monitor look good to me. I need a computer but never having had one, I'll just check with someone what it all means and I promise I will get back to you soon!!!!!
thanks,
belinda
well, DeLonghi is and italian brand so clearly that heater is awesome...
*cough cough*
;o)
Katherine,
If you want the CD stand, it's yours! The heater (as Elisa says!) is indeed rather awesome -- in my experience, the electric bill will be proportionally cheaper (for the amount of heat it gives) compared to your typical wall-mounted heater/aircon, so it's a good deal. If you're interested, let me know!
Belinda,
Thanks for the interest! The system is quite old now (about 3.5 years), but it's in good shape (thanks in part to a new power supply that I put in last year.) Again, the price is negotiable, and I'm willing to cut it down even further if you'll take both the system itself and the monitor off my hands. Stay in touch!
john let me know if no one takes the wii, its something im interested in.
also i will be back in the office tomorrow so maybe we can meet up around lunch time to "haggle over the price"
~Mark
Yo Mark,
Emma asked about the Wii above, but if she ends up not wanting it, then you're more than welcome to it. And yes, feel free to haggle away.
(That goes for everyone and everything, too... if stuff doesn't start going at the current prices, I'll be slashing them more and more in the coming days/weeks. So if any of you would be interested in anything at a cheaper price, just make an offer.)
Thanks!
John
1億円:
How many zero's is that??
100,000,000
Hey John - part 2!,
So - I'm getting closer and closer to possibly owning my first computer....... I asked the tech kid here about the computer and he gave me three questions to ask - not sure how relevant etc..... 1. Who's the maker? (sorry if I overlooked that in the description); 2. What operating system does it have? (e.g., Windows XP...) and 3. What programs if any does it have on it?
But guessing I just want a computer for Internet, organising my notes and photos, maybe doing some design stuff etc.... what you have should be fine.
I'll wait for possible answers, but I'm assuming at this point, tomorrow I'll be offering your computer and monitor a new home.
Many thanks your way,
belinda
Hey John,
Had second thoughts about the Wii. Was going to get it as a farewell gift, but decided not to. So Mark i guess it's yours!
Belinda,
No, thank you! I just sent you an email, so check it out and let me know if you have any other questions.
Emma,
No worries! I completely understand.
Mark,
Well, looks like the Wii is yours if you still want it. Let's haggle it up tomorrow!
hahah if it's still up for grabs i'll haggle for the wii!!!!!!
also, i may be interested in the printer so please get in touch with me!

Katherine, are you still interested in the heater? If so, you'll get priority since you mentioned it first. I can also give you a discount on the heater if you're willing to take both that and the CD rack.
Thanks to everyone who's expressed interest or made an offer!

Wii -- SOLD to Mark
printer -- SOLD to Chris
Any takers on the piano/keyboard? It's in very good condition and has a really nice sound -- and I know that we have some talented musicians in Shiga who could put it to good use!
i'm kind of interested in the piano keyboard. i am not one of the talented musicians you mentioned above. but i always had a piano or keyboard in my house growing up and it might be nice to have that again to fiddle with. problem is i have absolutely NOwhere to put, being that my apartment is the tiniest thing on the planet. but i could maybe be talked into it... at maybe a lower price???
that may have been an overshare
Yea! I can finally properly organize that pile of KJ8 CDs... As for the heater, I'm so tempted... How heavy is it?
Thanks for the responses, everyone.
Nikki>> I should probably warn you that the piano is quite large -- perhaps even larger than it looks in the picture. It's a full-sized 88-key keyboard, so it's about the same size (lengthwise) as an actual piano. I'll put you down as tentatively interested, though. If I can't find anyone willing to pay full price for it, I'll be getting back to you.
Katherine>> The heater is pretty light, actually -- especially for the size. I don't think you'd have any trouble moving it around. If you want, I can weigh it when I get home tonight and give you some specific numbers ;) Again, since you're taking the CD rack too, I'll discount the heater for you... how does Y4,000 sound?
Really? Would you do that for me, John? I expect it to be converted into pounds, as well. (.^_~)
But of course! Would you prefer pounds troy or pounds avoirdupois? Or I could perhaps give it to you in stones? Would you like the dimensions (height, width, depth) in inches? In hands? Anything for a loyal customer!
See, everyone? This is the amazing service you get when you buy from me! Other items still available and waiting for your offer!
As promised, here are the dimensions of the heater:
34.5 x 17.5 x 38cm (length/width/height)
The weight is 5.3kg = 11.68 lbs = 0.83 stone = 3.19173499 x 10^27 atomic mass units
Sound manageable?
LoL! I guess I won't tip over trying to get it home. Now, what are those dimensions in inches? [lazy]
well for a rule of thumb, 30 cm = 1 ft
whats the background on that purple whale?
(updates)
heater - SOLD to Katherine (I think...? If you changed your mind, let me know.)
Eric,
The purple whale is, I believe, a souvenir from an aquarium somewhere. I don't recall exactly. ;)
To everyone else:
Time is running out and I'm getting desperate, so I've slashed the prices again.
I'd also like to remind everyone that all items except for the keyboard are available for free if I don't get any better offers.
Also, if you live nearby (Otsu or the vicinity) you are welcome to stop by my place and take a look at any other stuff I may have and help yourself to whatever you'd like. I also have things like plastic storage drawers, a shoe cabinet, spice rack, cooking utensils, plates and glasses, etc. etc.
I really, really want to get rid of as much stuff as possible, so please let me know if you're interested. If all else fails, I may just start leaving my front door unlocked and stick a big sign saying 泥棒大歓迎
Be careful, John. You might come home to find someone who wants to pay you with stabbings.
Hell, if it's only a flesh wound and they'd be willing to take a decent portion of the stuff off my hands... at this point, I just might consider it.
