about Acid Mothers Temple -

Ok, So I’m not posting this in events yet but I will be scheduled do so a noise/performance art piece at an event called Junk room on February 10. http://junkroomkyoto.blogspot.com/ Junk room is held in Kyoto in a place called Urban Guild. http://www.urbanguild.net/ Urban Guild is located on the second floor of a building just past Sam and Daves. Junk room is a monthly event where both Japanese and foreign artists get together, perform share and collaborate. Some artists show video while others concentrate on live performance, or a combination. Most months there is an act from overseas as well as the locals. This month it was a duo from Canada doing gorgeous operatic vocals using effects, loops and organ drone. In February an outfit from Germany is coming down.
My question is, is there anyone out there who would like to collaborate in a performance on the 10th? You can be a musician, into theatre or video / VJing it is really open-ended. If you are a serious performer it will look really good on your resume. Junkroom is one of Japans cutting edge underground events. If you just feel like getting involved but are not an artist, thats great, lets raise hell!
What I would like to do is an excerpt from a noise piece I wrote a while ago called The Patty Hearst Noise Opera. The performance is based on the real life abduction of Patty Hearst by the SLA. Here is the Wiki article on her http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patty_Hearst The Patty Hearst Noise Opera is a recorded noise soundtrack with a live performance element. For the recorded element I sampled excerpts from the Patty Hearst abduction tapes that the SLA released during her captivity. I have repeated key phrases and the manipulation of sound has a repetitive, industrial feel to it. The live element is largely improvised and changes according to the mood of the performers and the audience. In the past it has involved audience interaction, various props and raw meat. I If possible I would like to include some live instruments and effects as well as extra live vocals and performers. I am also open to the possibility of incorporating a video/image element. In terms of reference points to what the hell I’m talking about, it may help to know that I’m into stuff like Throbbing Gristle, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Suck Dog (Lisa Crystal Carver) Can, Death in June, Sonic Youth, Damo Suzuki... If that makes no sense to you, don’t worry, its art not rocket surgery, you’ll catch on.
It doesn’t matter what you do, if you are serious about wanting to contribute, let me know and we will see what we can make of it.
I'm up for checking out any art stuff.... that leans more over to 'observer' than 'contributor' at this point though if that's okay. And I'm reading 10/2 as Wednesday the 10th of Feb.....noh?????
Thanks for posting!
Yup, 10th of February. I think some people write it one way and others another way... I should have just written 10th of February. It's nice that you are interested in arty stuff. I'm just putting it out there tho I get the impression there are not many people in the Shiga JET community who are into the more contemporary side of things. Last weekend I got to watch a guy in a mask and shorts covered in fake blood yell MUMMY! at a woman wearing all kinds of pretty fabrics. Of course there was also the obligatory Japanese guy in a frock being led around by a small child. I will see if I can get some photos up. I heart Japanese art!
I'm interested, but what I could contribute is similar to what you're already contributing (i.e. loops, fx, etc- sequenced computer based stuff).
I have not been producing lately (and not even given much thought to it), but used to DJ experimental music in the States, and have performed with members of Wolf Eyes (they're friends of mine).. and this sounds like fun. Could maybe help in throwing something together...
Wow, that sounds really interesting. I guess I will be seeing you at the movie night tonight, we can talk then.
